Vietnamese Coconut Coffee Recipe At Home

Vietnamese Coconut Coffee is a unique drink that combines the sharpness and scent of coffee with the delicate richness of coconut milk. This powerful and silky coffee is undoubtedly delicious.

Today I’m going to share a recipe for hot coconut coffee. The drink is powerful and delicately flavored with creamy coconut milk. Whether it’s hot or freezing outdoors, I prefer to drink it slowly.

For this recipe you can use either a French Press to make it or a Vietnamese Coffee Drip.

How Coconut Coffee was Invented?

Coconuts can be seen all across Vietnam, which is a tropical country. Vietnamese people are utilizing coconut milk in cuisine, sweets, and drinks for a very long time.

Coconut Coffee may be consumed either hot or cold. Coconut milk’s creaminess and aroma perfectly complement the flavor, depth, and chocolate undertones of Vietnamese coffee.

3 Parts of Vietnamese Coffee Drip

  • The Lid

The stainless-steel lid parts are built to cover the upper cup.

  • The Presser

A piece that acts as a divider between the water and coffee powder areas.

  • Filter

Water will be combined as it travels from the highest area to the coffee powder room via the presser. Water infused with coffee powder can flow into the glass via the filter.

Before we see the Equipment: (If you use French Press)

This brew is created by a very specific steeping method.

What are the steps of French Press coffee?

  • Coarsely ground coffee is filled with almost-boiling water and steeped for a brief, but precise, period of time.
  • Use 3 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 1 cup of water.
  • Pour, stir, cover.
  • Steep for 4 minutes.
  • Combine coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk in a small hot pan. Warm the milk mixture over mild to low heat stirring constantly, until steam begins to escape and little bubbles develop around the surface.
  • Turn off the heat and pour the milk mixture into a serving cup.
  • Use an electric frother to froth the coffee, or rapidly shake it in a container with a tight-fitting cover. (optional step)
  • Put the coffee and all of the foams into the serving cup with the coconut milk mixture.
  • Pour and serve!

Steps to Make Coconut Coffee Recipe-With Vietnamese Coffee Drip

Step 1

Place the Phin filter’s cup ring over your coffee glass. Add the 2 tbs ground coffee to the filter chamber, spreading it out evenly. The filter chamber should then be carefully placed over the cup ring.

Step 2

Carefully press the filter press on top of the ground coffee within the chamber. 1 tablespoon hot water in the chamber for 20 seconds to allow the coffee to sprout.

Step 3

Cover the chamber with the filter cover and pour the leftover hot water. Allow the coffee liquid to flow through the pores in the filter chamber and cup ring. The whole time for brewing must be approximately 4 minutes.

Step 4

If the coffee flows too fast, slightly push the filter press to slow it down. Two drops will be added at a time. Pull the filter from the filter cylinder once it is empty.

Step 5

Combine coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk in a small hot pan.  Warm the milk mixture over mild to low heat stirring constantly, until steam begins to escape and little bubbles develop around the surface. Do not allow the mixture to come to a boil.

Step 6

Turn off the heat and pour the milk mixture into a serving cup.

Step 7

Use an electric frother to froth the coffee, or rapidly shake it in a container with a tight-fitting cover. (optional step)

Step 8

Put the coffee and all of the foams into the serving cup with the coconut milk mixture. Serve right away!

Equipment

  • French Press or Vietnamese coffee Drip Machine
  • Grinder (If you don't have ground coffee) or grind your coffee at home!
  • Frother(Optional)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Ground Vietnamese coffee/Regular Ground Coffee
  • 1 tbsp boiled water
  • 100 gr Coconut Milk
  • 3 tbsp Condensed milk, sweetened
  • Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Collect all the Ingredients
  • Place the Phin filter's cup ring over your coffee glass. Add the ground coffee to the filter chamber
  • Cover the chamber with the filter cover and pour the leftover hot water. Allow the coffee liquid to flow through the pores in the filter chamber and cup ring. The time for brewing is 4 minutes
  • If the coffee flows too fast, push the filter press to slow it down. Two drops will be added at a time. Pull the filter from the filter cylinder once it is empty
  • Combine coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk in a small hot pan.  Warm the milk mixture over mild to low heat stirring constantly, until steam begins to escape and little bubbles develop around the surface
  • Turn off the heat and pour the milk mixture into a serving cup
  • Use an electric frother to froth the coffee, or rapidly shake it in a sealed container. (optional step)
  • Put the coffee and all of the foams into the serving cup with the coconut milk mixture
  • Serve right away!

Notes

  • To achieve the desired intensity, modify the coffee-to-water ratio.
  • To prepare this coconut coffee dairy-free/vegetarian/vegan, replace the sweetened condensed dairy milk with sweetened condensed coconut milk or sugar.
  • The technique is considerably better when made with sweetened condensed coconut milk.
  • After the last step in the Instructions section above, you can leave a tiny bit of the coconut milk combination in the pot and pour it on top of the coffee to make beautiful designs.
  • You might think it's strange to froth the coffee rather than the milk. Splashing frothed coffee over the coconut milk combination produces a more flavorful drink than pouring frothed coconut milk over the coffee.

Last Thoughts

It is, as predicted, extremely simple to prepare Vietnamese coconut coffee at home. The French press, or the Vietnamese Coffee Drip, is a distinct and strong coffee maker. Also, following the challenging difficulty trip and complex style, it is worthy to seek and learn.

With one by your side, you’ll be able to produce a creamy, delicious coconut coffee drink that can be enjoyed on its own or with other toppings like whipped cream or fruity syrups.
